Renee Lucena is a contemporary sculptor, designer and artist based in Sacramento, CA who specializes in kinetic and figurative work. Formally untrained, Renee developed her technique through independent studio experimentation and self directed study. Her work explores the concepts of identity and gender, pulling inspiration from early American Folk Art, Pop Art, Expressionism and Surrealism. Her work has been featured in various galleries across California including the Gregory Kondos Gallery in Sacramento, The MACC in Rancho Cordova and the Art Center of Mendocino.

From the Artist - In my studio, I carve out my own fables one sculpture at a time, using wood as my primary medium to craft pieces that are not only charming but evocative. Each sculpture is a character or scene, each a glimpse into my past or future. I love to mix whimsy with a bit of symbolism, creating works that invite viewers to step into a world where imagination and tradition meet. For me, art is about creating a narrative that resonates, a piece that feels familiar yet encourages curiosity.
